About Us
Safeway Driving School is the largest driving school in Minnesota instructing nearly 3,600 teen students last year. Safeway is owned locally by Chip Hayssen and Jim and Cindy Thienes. Our 40 licensed instructors include many licensed school teachers and three former State driving examiners.

Safeway is dedicated to providing a professional level of service in both the classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. Our curriculum has been reviewed and approved by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Our vehicles are regularly inspected and maintained to ensure safety. All our vehicles are white with uniform graphics to ensure a high level of safety and security.

After comprehensive reviews that included many local driving schools, seven community education departments have selected Safeway to provide driving instruction to their community's teens.

Safeway is fully insured, bonded and licensed by the State of Minnesota. Safeway is a member of the Driving School Association of the Americas and a founding member of the Minnesota Driving School Association.
